Indications
Metamucil Powder (Oral) is used for:
Relieve symptoms of, irritable bowel syndrome.
Adult Dose
Oral
Adults: One sachet in the morning and one in the evening half an hour
before a meal. If necessary, an additional sachet may be taken before the midday meal.
Child Dose
Oral
Children over 12: One sachet in the morning and one in the evening half an hour
before a meal. If necessary, an additional sachet may be taken before the midday meal.
Child <12 years: Safety & Efficacy not established.
Renal Dose
Administration
Stir the contents of a sachet into a glass of cold water (approximately 150ml) and drink immediately
Contra Indications
Allergic to any of the ingredients. Intestinal obstruction or faecal impaction, colonic atony, phenylketonuria.
Precautions
To be taken into consideration by patients on a controlled sodium diet.
To be taken into consideration by patients with reduced kidney function or patients on a controlled potassium diet.
Acute porphyria, Elderly, Pregnancy.

Adverse Effects
Side effects of Ispaghula Husk + Mebeverine Hydrochloride :
Flatulence or bloating, allergic skin reaction including skin rash with itching.
Anaphylaxis.
Mechanism of Action
Ispaghula husk, which is a natural plant material which is high in fibre. Ispaghula husk increases fibre in your diet helping your digestive system work more efficiently and gently relieve constipation in a natural way helping to restore and maintain regularity.
Mebeverine is an antispasmodic drug which relieves spasms and cramps, which occur in the gut causing pain.
