Alverine Citrate

Indications

Alverine Citrate is used for: Dysmenorrhoea, Gastrointestinal tract spasm, Irritable bowel syndrome, Diverticular disease

Adult Dose

Oral Dysmenorrhoea, Gastrointestinal tract spasm Adult: 60-120 mg 1-3 times daily.

Child Dose

Oral Dysmenorrhoea, Gastrointestinal tract spasm Child: >12 yr: 60-120 mg 1-3 times daily.

Contra Indications

Hypersensitivity, intestinal obstruction, paralytic ileus; children <12 yr.

Precautions

Pregnancy, lactation.

Adverse Effects

Side effects of Alverine Citrate : Nausea, headache; pruritus, rash; dizziness; allergic reactions. Potentially Fatal: Anaphylaxis.

Mechanism of Action

Alverine is a synthetic, non-narcotic, nonhabit-forming spasmolytic agent, which acts directly on intestinal and uterine smooth muscle.
