Interactions
Adverse Effects
Side effects of Fluorometholone 0.1% + Tetrahydrozoline Hydrochloride 0.025% Eye prep :
Mild burning sensation, reversible increase in intra ocular pressure (IOP), reactive hyperemia/rebound effect, cataract & corneal defects, glaucoma, systemic effects (chronic use).
Mechanism of Action
Fluorometholone suppresses the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and reversal of increased capillary permeability thus decreasing inflammation.
May stimulate alpha-adrenergic receptors in the arterioles of the conjunctiva; produces vasoconstriction. May produce mydriasis when applied to the conjunctiva, but this effect is usually minimal with the concentrations used as ocular decongestants.
