Gentamicin topical is used for: Skin infections

Adult Dose

Topical/Cutaneous Skin infections Adult: As 0.1% cream/oint: Apply gently to cleansed affected area 3-4 times daily.

Child Dose

Topical/Cutaneous Skin infections Child: As 0.1% cream/oint: Apply gently to cleansed affected area 3-4 times daily.

Prolonged use may result in bacterial or fungal superinfection; discontinue if superinfection develops Local redness/irritation reported Not for long term therapy

Pregnancy-Lactation

Pregnancy Category: C Lactation: excreted in breast milk; no adverse effect on nursing infant

Mechanism of Action

Bactericidal; appears to inhibit protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria by irreversibly binding to 30S and 50S ribosomal subunits
