Kaolin (heavy - Bolus alba), Charcoal (activated) is used for: KAOLIN
Used for upset stomach and diarrhea, a traditional medicine used in china, south america and africa. Kaolin is also used to treat aids-related diarrhea. Kaolin based bandages are also under investigation
ACTIVATED CHARCOAL
Used as a medication to treat poisonings following excessive oral ingestion of certain medications or poisons

Mechanism of Action

KAOLIN
Kaolin adsorbs water, toxins and bacteria, contributing to firmer stools, reducing fluid loss from diarrhea
ACTIVATED CHARCOAL
Active charcoal acts by binding to the poison to prevent stomach and intestinal absorption. As binding is reversible, a cathartic such as sorbitol may be added as well. Additionally, it interrupts the enterohepatic and enteroenteric circulation of some drugs/toxins and their metabolites
