Indications
Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride .025 % Nasal prep is used for:
Sinusitis, Hay fever, Common cold, Conjunctival decongestant, Acute or chronic rhinitis, Nasal congestion
Adult Dose
Nasal
Nasal congestion
Adult: Instil 2-3 drops or sprays in each nostril twice daily for 3-5 days.
Child Dose

Child: <6 years: Safety and efficacy not established
Child: >6 yr: Instil 2-3 drops or sprays in each nostril twice daily for 3-5 days.

Contra Indications
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to Oxymetazoine Hydrochloride.
Precautions
Prolonged use may result in rebound congestion.
Since oxymetazoline has systemic adverse effects, it should be used with caution in patients with hypertension, cardiovascular disease or hyperthyroidism or in those receiving MAO inhibitors.
Pregnancy-Lactation
Interactions
Potentially Fatal: Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs.
Adverse Effects
Side effects of Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride .025 % Nasal prep :
Local stinging or burning, sneezing, dryness of mouth and throat. Prolonged or frequent use may cause rebound congestion. Headache, insomnia, tachycardia, hypertension, nervousness, nausea, dizziness, palpitation, arrhythmia.
Mechanism of Action
Oxymetazoline is a direct-acting sympathomimetic which has vasoconstrictor effect on mucosal blood vessels when applied topically and in turn reduces oedema of the nasal mucosa.
