Mechanism of Action
The exact mechanism by which teriflunomide acts in MS is not known. What is known is that teriflunomide prevents pyrimidine synthesis by inhibiting the mitochondrial enzyme
dihydroorotate dehydrogenase, and this may be involved in its immunomodulatory effect in MS.
