Tulobuterol Hydrochloride

Indications

Tulobuterol Hydrochloride is used for: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Adult Dose

Oral Bronchodilation Adult: Initially, 1-2 mg bid, increase to 2 mg tid if necessary.

Child Dose

Oral Bronchodilation Child: 1-6 yr: 0.25-0.5 mg bid, 6-10 yr: 0.5-1 mg bid, 10-14 yr: 1-1.5 mg bid.

Contra Indications

Phaeochromocytoma.

Precautions

Hyperthyroidism, myocardial insufficiency, arrhythmias, susceptibility to QT-interval prolongation, hypertension and DM.

Pregnancy-Lactation

Interactions

Increased risk of arrhythmia with digoxin. Hypokalaemia with concomitant admin of xanthines, corticosteroids and diuretics.

Adverse Effects

Side effects of Tulobuterol Hydrochloride : Fine tremor of skeletal muscle, palpitations, muscle cramps, tachycardia, nervous tension, headache, peripheral vasodilatation, hypersensitivity reactions.

Mechanism of Action

Tulobuterol is a direct-acting sympathomimetic with selective action on ?2-receptors. It is available orally, as a inhaler and as a transdermal patch. It is given as the hydrochloride by mouth and the base as transdermal formulation and inhalation.
