Zinc Oxide + Castor oil Topical
Indications
Zinc Oxide + Castor oil Topical is used for:
Bed sore, Diaper rash, Skin irritations and abrasions, Haemorrhoids, vulvo-vaginitis, Eczema
Adult Dose
Haemorrhoids, vulvo-vaginitis & Eczema
Adult: As ointment: Use 3 times daily or as required in a thin layer to protect the skin.
Child Dose
Nappy rash
Child: Apply thin layer topically every 8 hourly.
Renal Dose
Administration
Change wet and soiled diapers, promptly cleans the diaper area, allow to dry and apply ointment liberally as often as necessary, with each diaper change, especially at bedtime or any time when exposure to wet diapers may be prolonged.
Contra Indications
Known hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation
Precautions
For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Stop use and ask a doctor if condition worsens or does not improve within 7 days. Keep out of the reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a poison control center right away.
Pregnancy-Lactation
Interactions
Zinc oxide reduce therapeutic efficacy of hydroxyquinoline.
Adverse Effects
Side effects of Zinc Oxide + Castor oil Topical :
Usually well tolerated. Extremely low frequency of hypersensitivity reaction.
Mechanism of Action
Zinc oxide has astringent, soothing and protective properties and is used in topical preparations for eczema, slight excoriations, wounds and haemorrhoids. It also reflects ultraviolet radiation and can be used as a physical sunscreen.
Castor oil: Irritant/stimulant laxative.
