Pregnancy-Lactation

Recommendations on the use of Bendroflumethiazide in Pregnancy & Lactation: Available data do not suggest any teratogenic effects associated with the use of Bendroflumethiazide in the first trimester. However, it can cause maternal hypovolemia, and hypoglycaemia, thrombocytopaenia, hyponatraemia and hypokalaemia in the neonate. It is therefore better avoided in pregnancy (Briggs & Freeman, 2015). Though, no adverse effects have been reported in the exposed breastfed infant, Bendroflumethiazide can cause suppression of lactation (Briggs & Freeman, 2015). Reference: 1. Briggs, G.
